Vaccine Rollout
According to Our World in Data, as of 22 September 2021, 16,1 million vaccines have been administered in South Africa, with 7,9 million people being fully vaccinated, this represents 13,5% of the population, with Gauteng leading in the number of people getting vaccinate per 24 hours. COVID-19 Cases
According to the latest report from, Health Minister Joe Phaahla, the number of new positive COVID-19 cases are rapidly decreasing. According to his latest statistics, the number of new cases have dropped by 24%, as compared to last week, and the number of hospitalisations due to COVID-19 has decreased by 10%. As of 21 September, the number of Active cases reported stands at 56 090.
South Africa still has a long way to go before reaching immunity and therefore, it is important to continue adhering to all COVID-19 safety regulations.

Vaccine Passport on the cards
As South Africa’s vaccine rollout now past its nascent stage and the country administering a million doses every four to five days, business leaders are suggesting in order to restore the economy, introduce world travel and further investments, beyond the adjusting COVID-19 level restrictions, government should consider the introduction of vaccine passports.
