US to lift travel ban
The United States announced that they will be lifting their travel ban between the US and the eight Southern African countries from Friday, 31st of December.
This comes months after the US imposed travel bans on eight Southern African countries after South African Scientists announced that they had discovered a new COVID-19 variant, Omicron.
According to the Biden administration, Omicron infections are already present in the US, therefore the travel suspension is pointless. As of 29 December the CDC has recorded over 400 000 cases, the highest COVID-19 daily cases in the US since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.
